Healthy spiced vanilla latte

Healthy spiced vanilla latte

I LOVE lattes, but caffeine plays havoc with my system, and  studies have shown that  de-caf is even worse for you than

high amounts of caffeine.  But with lattes, it’s all about the lovely warm milkiness, so for a much healthier version try this dairy-free latte, perfect for the winter months. I make mine with homemade almond milk, I’ll be doing a post about how to make almond milk soon. In the meantime, Almond milk is available at health food shops, and in the UK at Waitrose supermarkets too.

  •  1 and a half cups almond milk (or other milk substitute)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract or a small amount of seeds scraped from a vanilla pod
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp honey for sweetness if you wish
Add the milk along with the spices and vanilla to a small pan. Heat up gently whilst stirring. Add honey or stevia to taste and drink up.
Whilst I’m on the subject of almonds, do remember that nuts are toxic to dogs, so don’t share your almonds with your four-legged friends. x
