>In the news: yoga helps breast cancer patients

A study undertaken at the University of Texas has shown that breast cancer patients benefit from doing yoga in that they have a better quality of life.

This is hardly a surprise, as the benefits of yoga mentally are so clear to those who regularly take up the practice, but is is great to see a study that confirms the benefits especially to people undergoing stressful treatments such as breast caner patients. Especially important is that reduced stress levels in breast cancer patients results in better results from treatments. It turns out that even compared with another group of breast cancer patients who did a regular stretch class, the group attending the yoga classes also saw the “steepest decline in their cortisol across the day, indicating that yoga had the ability to regulate this stress hormone,”.

Read more about the study here on The Independant website.

Another great reason to take up a yoga class.
